Why an afternoon with us
This is a hosted afternoon,
not a class
One afternoon
One block of time, and guests leave able to host a game themselves.
Two instructors
Both of us teach at every lesson of eight or more. Included, never a surcharge.
Three full hours
Most instruction runs ninety minutes. Three hours is what makes the game yours.
Yours to keep
A National Mah Jongg League card and our own beginner’s manual go home with you.
The shape of the afternoon
Guests arrive to a table already set
A weighted set in the hand, a mat beneath the tiles, an acrylic rack and pusher at every seat. The teaching is built around the room rather than the other way around — the tiles first, then the card, then the Charleston, then long enough at play that the game stops being explained and starts being played.
By the end of the afternoon there’s a real game running, and everyone has a card in their bag.
